Sydney Opera House BUILD program
In December (2022) I attended an architectural and planning program hosted inside the Sydney Opera House. The program spanned across 2 weeks with a final group presentation on the last day. The day before the presentation I filmed my group acting inside one of the Opera House’s theatres and compiled a video to visually present our groups project as we pitch our idea. The video played in the background on a big screen as my group and I presented our final project to the other BUILD PROGRAM groups, Opera House officials and CEO.
The aim of the project was to imagine a planning strategy to utilise universal accessibility and social, environmental and economic sustainability for the Opera House in a Post Anthropocene world 50 years in the future. My group pitched a vision of the Opera House utilising virtual reality to fulfil Post Anthropocene’s sustainability requirements, and further providing international tourists universal access to the Opera House.
The video demonstrates how a tourist may use virtual reality during a live theatre event, surrounded my local audience members. I wanted to convey a glitchy hologram avatar that, when glitches, reveals a camera.
If I had more time to improve this video, I would like to spend more time aligning the masks on the actor wearing the glasses.
