Sydney Opera House BUILD program
In December (2022) I attended an architectural and planning program hosted inside the Sydney Opera House. The program spanned across 2 weeks with a final group presentation on the last day. The day before the presentation I photographed a group member’s eye and designed a futuristic contact lens to visually express futuristic use of virtual reality. The poster played in the background on a big screen as my group and I presented our final project to the other BUILD PROGRAM groups, Opera House officials and CEO.
The aim of the project was to imagine a planning strategy to utilise universal accessibility and social, environmental and economic sustainability for the Opera House in a Post Anthropocene world 50 years in the future. My group pitched a vision of the Opera House utilising virtual reality to fulfil Post Anthropocene’s sustainability requirements, and further providing international tourists universal access to the Opera House.
The poster symbolically imagines how virtual reality will be interpreted as a contact lens and used by the public to view the Sydney Opera House.
