University assignment
This zine is an ancient Greek inspired scroll constructed with hand carved handles consisting of meander stye patterns. The illustration consists of a Olive tree sapling with roots growing from ancient Greek Olympics and branching out to the modern Olympic games.
The aim of the project is to present Olympic sports and athletes from the origins of the Olympic games in Greece, and the modern Olympic games.
The illustration explores not only the quintessential pose of athletes competing in their disciplines, but also the moments before and after competing.
Inspired by ancient Greek pottery and modern Olympic pictograms, I utilised small pictographic characters. The iconography visualises athletes competing in their discipline, defeat, victory, sportsmanship, family and many other experiences athletes around the world experience.
