One of the most noticeable relations to the ancient world and ancient Rome is the pillars, and today some remain as empty husks. However, their ancient origins are recognised by most of the world. The banner’s illustrations visually symbolise the collapse of Rome through the presentation of decaying pillars. The audience’s interpretation of the banners promotes a clear indication of the exhibit’s Roman
topic.
In classical architecture, the Orders consist of components that make a pillar. Pillars can be catagorised into three architectural styles.
Ionic: The chosen pillar for the museum banner. Ancient roman architecture favored this design and is most recognisable to be affiliated with ancient Rome to a general audience with its scroll like shapes at top of the
capitol, also known as volutes.
Corinthian: Highly detailed volutes with floral design.
Doric: 7th century mainland of Greece. Arguably the oldest.
